Policy Manager (2x permanent, 3x fixed term)

Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity to work within the GMC as a Policy Manager, contributing to major public policy issues and influencing the future of medical regulation.

You will need to be comfortable working with senior people and key stakeholders in an environment where there are often no ‘off the shelf’ answers. You will require enthusiasm, flexibility and initiative, and the ability to work well with others. The work is interesting, varied and fast-paced.

Experience in policy development is essential and knowledge of current healthcare policy issues would be advantageous. But more importantly, we expect a commitment to the values of an organisation that is focused on good, safe patient care across the UK.

This is a hybrid role between home working and office working, you’ll work 1 day minimum a week in the office. We may ask you to attend the office on additional days where necessary.

All the vacancies will be based either in London or Manchester. For more details about the roles, please see attached role information document.

You can find more detail on the tasks you will undertake, and the essential skills required for the role, in the job description.

How to apply for the role

Please provide a CV and covering letter. The covering letter should clearly set out how you meet the essential skills for the role, which are listed in the job description. You should also include a paragraph outlining your reasons for applying for the role.

We recommend no more than 2 sides of A4 for the covering letter, but it can be more if required. Please note, applications submitted without a cover letter will be considered incomplete and not shortlisted.

We will assess applications for all four roles against the criteria and will look to allocate positions on the basis of skills, experience and personal interest. Candidates are welcome to express a preference for a particular role which will be considered but not guaranteed.

If further vacancies arise within the next six months, appointable candidates will go into a pool and may be considered for these vacancies.
