About the GMC

We work with doctors, physician associates (PAs), anaesthesia associates (AAs), those they care for and other stakeholders to support good, safe patient care across the UK. We set the standards doctors, PAs, AAs and their educators need to meet, and help them achieve them. If there are concerns these standards may not be met or that public confidence in doctors, PAs, or AAs may be at risk, we can investigate, and take action if needed.

The role

We are seeking an experienced qualified solicitor to lead and develop a high-performing legal team within a regulatory environment.

In this role, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality legal casework and advice, providing leadership, coaching and quality assurance to a team of solicitors. You will manage complex and high-profile cases, support regulatory decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of solicitors
  • Oversee complex investigations and tribunal preparation
  • Provide expert legal guidance on complex and sensitive matters
  • Ensure high standards of quality, consistency and timely delivery
  • Manage performance, wellbeing, resourcing and professional development

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, training and knowledge sharing

About You

You will be a qualified solicitor in England and Wales with experience working in a regulatory environment. You will bring strong leadership skills, sound legal judgement, and experience managing complex casework.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organisational and decision-making abilities
  • A commitment to fairness, inclusion and continuous improvement
  • The ability to lead confidently in a fast-paced and high-profile environment
