Project Manager – Permanent - Outreach
Are you an experienced project manager with national engagement expertise? If so, you could help improve patient care through strategic delivery of key projects to support good, safe patient care.
The GMC helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for doctors, physician associates (PAs), anaesthesia associates (AAs). We support them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, working directly with them and their educators and employers, and take action when they are not met.
The role is based within our Outreach team, which collaborates and engages with a range of stakeholders. You’ll have experience of communicating with a diverse range of audiences both face to face and virtually, and you’ll have outstanding relationship management skills at senior level. We’ll provide you with all the training you need about the health sector to be successful in this role.
Summary of the role and background
Applicants will be expected to work in the Manchester or London office on average one day per week, there is an opportunity to attend more regularly if preferred with the expectation to come into the office more often during the induction period, or to suit the needs of the project. There may be occasional travel required to other GMC offices.
You can find more detail on the tasks you will undertake for each Project Manager role, and the essential skills required, in the job packs attached to the vacancy.
How to apply for the role
Please provide a CV and covering letter. The covering letter should clearly set out how you meet the essential skills for the role, which are listed in the personal specification. You should also include a paragraph outlining your reasons for applying for the role.
We recommend no more than 2 sides of A4 for the covering letter, but it can be more if required. We will assess the information you provide against the skills required for the role and let you know whether you will progress to the next stage of the recruitment process.
If you do not provide all the above, we will not be able to progress your application and your application could be withdrawn.
GMC Benefits – Why work for us
You’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people with several excellent benefits including:

If you meet the standard for the appointment, but you are not offered a role in the first instance, you will join the project manager pool for 6 months. If further roles from across directorates become available, we will use the appointable pool from this campaign if applicable.
The GMC values diversity and has made a public commitment to processes and procedures that are fair, objective, transparent and free from discrimination.
We are also committed to the Disability Confident employer scheme and support the requirements of the Disability Confident interview scheme.
