Assessment Officer  

The Assessment Development Team develops and maintains assessment materials used to deliver GMC assessments. It’s a fast-paced environment with lots of different workstreams to get involved in. Working directly with doctors, to support doctors, and uphold patient safety, makes for very rewarding work. In this role at the GMC, you will enjoy variety in working with GMC colleagues, doctors and health professionals and make a positive impact protecting patients.

Summary of the role and main responsibilities

As an Assessment Officer you will get involved with and lead on various tasks, including:

  • staff management
  • editing and reviewing exam content
  • managing assessment events where we work with associates to write, test and standard set material
  • selecting content to be used in the exams
  • processing results
  • improvement projects
  • running meetings and supporting our associates*

*Associates are doctors and other professionals who are contracted to work with the team to help us develop assessment materials and facilitate events.

Full time (35 hours Monday to Friday), flexible working options available. Flexible working requests will be considered in line with the policy, but we are a busy, events-based team.

This is a hybrid role between home working and office working, you’ll work at least 2 days a week in the office, more when needed or if wanted. Some travel to London and overnight stays are also required. The induction will be on the job with more office-based working initially. You may be asked to work up to 5 days a week in the office during the first 1-2 months while training.
